Life Beyond Love, a Novella, Chapter – 25: Let Me Go

When I got the appointment letter I just cried the cry I stored for my father, for my Mamoni and the cry for my humiliation, for my blind unconditional love that was butchered with such cruelty.

I needed to speak to Sikha aunty and to arrange everything before I leave.

So I called aunty and uncle and asked them to come. I had left with only 15 days.

“I’ve got a call from Chitora. They want to send me Bisakpur as a communicative consultant. They work for women’s placement and economic development of women. I like the job as per I’m informed about its agenda. It is a roaming job based on survey and I have to keep continuous communication with different parts of rural India.”

“So you cannot stay in one place. What will be your future?”

“What is meant by future? The future is the way ahead and I wish to welcome this mobility. I don’t want to be stagnant any more here. It will kill me. But I’ll return. Any day any time. It’s my house.”

“Ok, I can feel you. But your uncle was talking about your settlement, I mean …”

I stopped her.

“Please, aunty. I’m not ready for a so-called settlement. I just want to live my own life. Now as I get the scope let me go.”

She took me in her arm and kissed my forehead.

“Oh my dear we all love you so much. Ok, go ahead. Whenever you need anything we all are with you, just keep it in mind.”

“I’ll come back. I’m not running away I’m just trying to find my destiny, myself.”

My throat got lumpy; my eyes were stinging.

“I must find my solace in life somewhere somehow, life is big and time is the only healer of scars. Give me the time, something is choking me here. I am not finding enough air. Please.” I hold her and cried bitterly.

She understood everything.

Going to be end…

I feel life is an amalgamation of multiple stories, colourful threads, and threads of pain, pleasure, hope, and hopelessness. We just need to pick those hues and arrange them, knitting them with our own emotions and perception. So let's celebrate the stories of life.
